Michael Owen has predicted in his Betvictor.com column that Manchester United will fail to win against Newcastle United in the Premier League on Wednesday.
The former England international striker, who played for both the clubs, believes that Louis van Gaal’s side could slip up at St. James’ Park.
“I’m looking forward to going to St James’ Park as I’ll be commentating on the game for BT Sports on Wednesday night when Newcastle host Manchester United,” the 35-year-old wrote on Betvictor.com.
“Both sides won at the weekend however both were far from convincing and I think Louis Van Gaal’s side want taking on at around the even money mark.”
A footnote added: “Michael’s recommendation: Newcastle to win or draw at 4/5”
Could Michael Owen’s prediction come true?
On paper, United should win the game, but given the way they have been playing recently, Newcastle will certainly fancy their chances.
John Carver’s side returned to winning ways at the weekend when they edged past Aston Villa at home, and that will have certainly boosted the players’ confidence
Newcastle have not been playing well recently and are pretty much set for a mid-table finish in the Premier League this season, but they will want to defeat the mighty United.
However, it will be a surprise if United lose at St. James’ Park. Perhaps the Manchester outfit will fail to win, but they should be able to pick up a point.
