Michael Owen has predicted in his Betvictor.com column that today’s Premier League clash between Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion will end in a draw.
The former Manchester United and Liverpool striker believes that Tim Sherwood’s side will struggle to overcome what he describes as a “well-organised” Baggies team at Villa Park.
“Tim Sherwood is still searching for a first win since replacing Paul Lambert at Villa Park however I think his wait will be prolonged further when hosting a well-organised West Brom side that have been revitalised under Tony Pulis,” the 35-year-old wrote on Betvictor.com.
“Villa have won just one of their last eight PL games against West Brom and look unlikely to better that, with the draw appealing at 2/1 with BetVictor.”
Could Michael Owen’s prediction come true?
A draw does look likely, especially when one considers the contrasting form of the two teams.
While Villa have lost seven Premier League games in a row, West Brom are without a win in eight away matches but have lost just once in their last eight league fixtures.
Tony Pulis’s Baggies are certainly the more in-form team and will head into Villa Park confident of a win.
However, one suspects that having lost his first two games in charge of Villa, Sherwood will have made it clear to the players what he wants from them today.
Playing at home will give Villa some advantage too, and they will be looking to make the most of it.
An early goal could do wonders for the Villans. Not only will it give the players a lift, but it will also pump up the home fans.
