A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Manchester United are preparing to face Newcastle United on Wednesday evening, and one of the Magpies’ players has confirmed he will be unavailable for the match.

In a report by the Shields Gazette, they have published a tweet from Newcastle player Remy Cabella, in which he confirmed that he would not be fit for the upcoming encounter.

The news will be a blow for Newcastle fans looking to get three points against Louis van Gaal’s side, but the visitors may well be thankful not to have to face the talented Frenchman.

In other news, the Telegraph reports that alleged United target Nathaniel Clyne is set for contract talks with his current club Southampton.

The 23-year-old right-back’s current deal at St Mary’s expires in the summer of 2016, and the report includes comments from Southampton manager Ronald Koeman in which he said, “The contact is between Les Reed and the agent and Clyne, but I think after Wednesday it’s a good time to talk about that. Of course, we like to know what his decision is about the future.”

United continue to have issues at right-back, with Antonio Valencia not a natural player in that position and Rafael yet to prove to all supporters that he can be a regular there for years to come.
