The Villarreal striker would be keen on a summer move to Anfield, but the likes of Real Madrid are also interested in his services.
Vietto, 21, has been in excellent form since signing for Villarreal from Argentine Primera Division side Racing Club in August, netting 18 times in 36 total appearances, while adding eight assists in the process.
Likened to compatriot Sergio Aguero, his performances attracted the attention of Liverpool in the winter transfer window, per the Mirror, with the club said to have lined up a £12 million bid amid Mario Balotelli’s struggles in front of goal.
While a move failed to materialise, the Under-20 international's form hasn’t deteriorated since and, according to agent Jorge Cysterpiller, the Reds remain more than keen on his signature.
However, Brendan Rodgers’ side will face competition for his signature, with Cysterpiller adding that Spanish giants Real Madrid are also among the interested parties, along with two Bundesliga clubs.
“We know that many powerful clubs follow Luciano Vietto. There is great competition for him”, he said. “He can sign for Liverpool because we know he likes the whole network, like Real Madrid and I think two German teams. I think he could leave Villarreal at the end of the season.”
AS also add that Vietto’s contract contains a release clause of just €10 million, making him a potential steal in the summer transfer market should he indeed opt to leave the Estadio El Madrigal.
Liverpool should be on the lookout for another frontman come the end of the season, with none of Balotelli, Fabio Borini or Rickie Lambert proving up to scratch this term, but whether they will be able to beat the likes of Real to the promising Argentine’s signature remains to be seen.
