John Carver has confirmed to The Chronicle that Newcastle United winger Rolando Aarons is set to return to training next week.
Aarons has been suffering with a series of injuries, but he appears to be close to making a comeback.
Carver has said that he will have to be assessed before a decision is made on whether he will play against Everton in two weeks' time, but he is just happy to have him back.
“He is going to join us at the end of next week, which is great," Carver said. “Whether there will be enough time for the Everton game only time will tell. But the fact that he is coming back to training is great news.”
Aarons looks like one of Newcastle's most promising prospects, but injury has hampered his chances of regular football this season.
The 19-year-old has played just five times this campaign, and has not been seen in a Newcastle shirt since the start of November due to his struggles for fitness.
It means that when he does return he is likely to be eased back into first-team life, as Newcastle will be keen not to lose him for a prolonged period of time again.
Aarons has already shown that he has an abundance of ability, and he will be looking to make up for lost time when he comes back into contention, with next season looking like it could be a huge one for the England youth international.
