Tottenham round-up, Pochettino keen to win for Mackay, Kane's England latest

A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Tottenham Hotspur this Tuesday evening

Tottenham Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino has said the memory of club legend Dave Mackay can spur the club on to victory in tomorrow night's game at White Hart Lane against Swansea City.

Mackay, who was part of the 1960/61 double winning team, died aged 80 late last night after illness. The club will mark his passing with a minutes applause and wear black armbands.

Pochettino is quoted in the London Evening Standard, saying: “It will be an emotional game because it will special for the situation, and I think our players know it’s very important to win.

“It’s a very sad day and a great loss both for Tottenham and British football, because he was a legend, not only here but in the British game. I want to send my condolences to his family and friends. It is a very sad day for all of us.”

Pochettino is quoted in the Daily Mail saying the side need to bounce back from the League Cup final disappointment, and finish the Premier League season strongly, with 12 games remaining for his side.

He added: "We need to put the idea in the group that tomorrow is an important game. We need to forget the final. That is difficult but tomorrow is important."

Benjamin Stambouli seems to echo Pochettino's thoughts in an interview with the club website and says the side is confident ahead of their meeting with the Swans tomorrow evening.

The midfielder said: “What’s important is to have a good mentality and a strong will to win. We need to be aggressive in a good way. If we put all of these factors together – focus, a good mentality, positivity – then we will win. We have to be focused on ourselves.”

Finally, Harry Kane could be in line to lead the attack for England at the under-21 European Championships according to the London Evening Standard.

Kane, who has been in excellent form for Spurs this season, is 'desperate' to be involved according to the report.
