Harry Redknapp has been singing the praises of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ryan Mason on talkSPORT’s Hawksbee and Jacobs show.
Mason is enjoying a breakthrough season at Spurs and has established himself as one of the best players in the team.
The 23-year-old has created 16 chances in 19 Premier League appearances so far this season, while having a pass accuracy of 82% and winning 50% of the duels.
The Englishman’s performance in central midfield alongside Nabil Bentaleb has been truly superb, and former Tottenham manager Redknapp is impressed.
The 68-year-old has revealed that he always knew that Mason was going to be a top player and has highlighted two areas where he has developed this season.
“Mason is developing now,” Redknapp told talkSPORT. “We always felt Mason was going to be a good player. He could just never get fit.
“Wherever we loaned him out, he’d go and play and break down [at Yeovil or Doncaster Rovers]. He couldn’t get a run of games going.
“He looks a different player now. He looks stronger and much more aggressive. He has filled out and he looks like he will be a top player.”
Mason has been on the books of Tottenham since 2007, but it is only this season under manager Mauricio Pochettino that he is getting an extended run in the team.
The midfielder is hugely talented and tactically sound, and Spurs fans will be happy that he is now fit and showing his quality.
Mason will be hugely important for Tottenham in the final months of the season. With the North London outfit aiming for a top-four finish, he needs to maintain his fitness.
