Gary Lineker and Ray Parlour react to Aston Villa’s win against West Bromwich Albion

Aston Villa edged past West Bromwich Albion 2-1 at Villa Park in the Premier League this evening.

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Gary Lineker has underlined the importance of Christian Benteke’s goal for Aston Villa against West Bromwich Albion on social networking site Twitter.

Belgium international striker Benteke scored a late penalty in the Premier League clash at Villa Park this evening.

That goal made it 2-1 to the Villans and proved to be enough for the hosts to pick up all three points.

The victory was Villa’s first under manager Tim Sherwood and their first in 12 games, leading to massive celebrations among the fans at Villa Park.

Villa have now moved out of the bottom three of the Premier League for the time being. The Villans are currently 17th in the standings with 25 points from 28 matches, three points above the relegation zone.

Former England international striker Lineker was following the match, and he made the following post as soon as Benteke successfully converted his spot kick.

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour also took to Twitter to have his say on the final result of the game between Villa and West Brom.

It is indeed a big win for Villa, who will now be looking to build on the victory and climb up the Premier League table.

Confidence will have returned to the Villa players, who seem to have stepped up under Sherwood.
