Efe Ambrose says that he is happy to play anywhere for Celtic.
Celtic defender Efe Ambrose has told the club’s official website that he is happy to play anywhere he is asked to.
The 26-year-old is a centre-back by trade, but against Aberdeen at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday, he was deployed at left-back.
Ambrose gave a good account of himself in that rather unfamiliar role and was happy to have helped the Bhoys to a comprehensive 4-0 victory.
The 26-year-old has not exactly been in great form throughout the season, but he remains an important part of Ronny Deila’s team.
Ambrose has now said that he is flexible enough to play anywhere he is asked to by Deila.
“I enjoyed playing because for me the most important thing is the team and if I can help them in any way, I feel comfortable doing that,” the Nigeria international told Celtic’s official website.
"If you’re needed in a position and it’s a sacrifice you can give to the team. then I’m a team player and if the gaffer wants me to play and if I can play and I feel like I can do it then why not,” added Deila.
“For us it’s not about competition, it’s about the team. The team is more important than individuals and for us the team goes before any other person.”
Ambrose’s comments demonstrate how much the Celtic players value their manager, and how much team spirit there is in the team.
Deila is a very charismatic figure, and it seems that he has fostered a very strong bond among the players.
The fact that a centre-back is happy to play at left-back and says that he is ready to make sacrifices for the betterment of the team highlights just how much respect the Celtic players have for Deila.
