Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky has told the club’s website he feels he was lucky with his goal in the 2-0 win against Everton over the weekend.
The Gunners responded well to the heartbreak of the defeat against Monaco in the Champions League last week, with Olivier Giroud and the Czech midfielder scoring the pivotal goals at the Emirates.
“I was a bit lucky because there was a little deflection but I was in a good position,” said Rosicky.
“Mesut gave me a good ball because he saw me coming to the edge of the box from deep, so I shot towards the far post and got a bit lucky with the deflection.”
Hopefully for Arsenal’s sake, Rosicky can cash in on his luck and make the most of it over the next few weeks.
Arsenal face a difficult game against QPR this week in the Premier League before the pick of the FA Cup quarter-finals against Manchester United this weekend.
Rosicky is likely to play some part over the course of both games and when he is called upon by Wenger, he needs to make the most of the positivity created by his goal, regardless of the luck involved.
Arsenal are in great shape as they chase a Champions League spot in the Premier League for next season, just four points behind champions Manchester City in second place.
They stand a great chance of retaining the FA Cup and have an outside chance of turning things around in Europe.
There’s plenty to be optimistic about.
