Newcastle United are interested in signing Anderlecht defender Chancel Mbemba Mangulu, according to The Sun.
It has been reported by the British tabloid that the Premier League outfit have already scouted the 20-year-old and want to sign him in the summer transfer window.
According to The Sun, Newcastle “super spy” Graham Carr went to Belgium to watch Mangulu in action following his return from the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations duty with DR Congo.
Should Newcastle make a move for Mangulu?
Mangulu is a talented young defender and has established himself as an important player for Anderlecht.
The youngster won the Belgian Pro League in 2014, and the Belgian Super Cup in 2013 and 2014.
Last month, Mangulu helped DR Congo reached the semi-finals of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
It will be interesting to see if Anderlecht are willing to sell the defender and for how much. The centre-back’s current contract with the Belgian giants runs out in June 2017.
Newcastle, though, will face competition for the services of Mangulu, if indeed Anderlecht are willing to listen to offers.
According to Hln.be, Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and Portuguese giants FC Porto also have the youngster on their wishlists.
