Newcastle United welcome Manchester United to St James’ Park on Wednesday evening with seven places and 15 points separating them in the table.
Louis van Gaal’s side are fighting for a top-four finish and will know that any more slip-ups will be seized upon by a chasing pack that is becoming ever more threatening.
As for Newcastle, they will be looking to move closer to the top 10 following their 1-0 win against Aston Villa last time out.
Newcastle are without a number of first-team players, with Rob Elliot, Paul Dummett, Steven Taylor, Jack Colback, Cheick Tiote and Siem de Jong all unavailable because of either injury or suspension.
Remy Cabella and Rolando Aarons are also struggling to be fit meaning head coach John Carver only has limited players to choose from, especially with Massaido Haidara struggling with a knee injury.
As for Manchester United, they have doubts over Victor Valdes (knock), Phil Jones (illness) and Luke Shaw (hamstring) while Robin van Persie is definitely out with an ankle injury.
