Leeds legend suggests Redfearn agrees about key problem in the squad

Eddie Gray has suggested Neil Redfearn agrees with him over a problem with the Leeds United squad.

Leeds United legend Eddie Gray told the Yorkshire Evening Post he feels the current side need for or five new players to compete in the Championship next season.

Gray feels the current crop of players are missing something in terms of quality and squad depth, which will leave Neil Redfearn under pressure this summer.

“That’s back-to-back defeats and I asked Neil Redfearn after the game, if he would agree with me that if we are going to make a serious challenge next season, then we need another four or five players,” wrote Gray.

“That’s my opinion, and I think Neil is of the same belief – we need a bit more quality in and around the squad.”

Leeds were beaten by Brighton last week before throwing away a 2-0 lead over the weekend.

The defence has been criticised after both games, but the young midfield the side has also needs to step up and show their metal against Ipswich this Wednesday.

There are areas, which could arguably use new bodies with a fresh striker coming in something, which could give Redfearn a different option.

Billy Sharp grabbed a goal over the weekend, Mirco Antenucci has played well this season and Steve Morison always works hard but there is a hole and questions to be answered.

The defence and midfield could also use freshening up in the summer if the boss can find the right sort of targets at the right prices to take the team forward.

Leeds are a massive club and are working hard on and off the field to move forward. A bigger and higher quality squad next season is only going to help.
