Ledley King sends message to Tottenham after cup final defeat

Former Tottenham captain Ledley King says he is proud of the team.

Former Tottenham captain Ledley King insists he is proud of the team despite their defeat to Chelsea in the Capital One Cup final.

Spurs were on the wrong end of two deflected goals from John Terry and Diego Costa, and failed to offer enough going forward to score themselves.

King believes, writing on Twitter, that this young Tottenham team will improve and the experience will be to their benefit in the future.

The former England defender was part of the Tottenham side which beat Chelsea in 2008, but after that triumph the side were unable to kick on, and even saw manager Juande Ramos sacked six months later.

This Spurs team are set up to succeed in a different way, having one of the youngest squads in the Premier League, and a head coach who has barely got started in terms of bringing in his own transfer targets.

If players like Eric Dier, Nabil Bentaleb and Harry Kane can carry on the strides they have made this season, and the hierarchy at the club remain patient and give Mauricio Pochettino their backing, there is no reason why they cannot repeat their trip to Wembley in the future, and come away with a different result.
