Tottenham media round-up, Friedel target for Chelsea, midfielder on rest of campaign

A selection of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur in the media this Monday evening.

Tottenham goalkeeper Brad Friedel could be a surprise transfer target for Chelsea in the summer according to a report in the Daily Telegraph.

The report suggests that a shortlist of experienced goalkeepers has been put together in the event that Petr Cech isn't persuaded to stay at Stamford Bridge, with Thibaut Courtois preferred in goal most of the time, though Cech played in the League Cup final against Spurs yesterday afternoon.

Friedel would be 44 in the summer and hasn't played this season given the signing of Michel Vorm to deputise for Hugo Lloris.

It would seem like an odd move for both club and player, but would probably afford Friedel more of an opportunity to play games in cup competitions.

Midfielder Nabil Bentaleb has told the London Evening Standard that he hopes the side can use yesterday's cup final defeat to Chelsea to spur them on to the Champions League places.

Spurs are currently six points adrift of Manchester United in fourth with a game in hand, and can afford little error between now and the end of the campaign. The side face Swansea City on their return to Premier League action on Wednesday night at White Hart Lane.

The Algeria international said: "It is clear that now we have only the Premier League to focus on and it will be a good race for the top four. The manager told us we had to bounce back for the game against Swansea."
