Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Micky Hazard has hit out at Arsenal fans on social networking site Twitter.
Arsenal and Tottenham are fierce North London rivals, and the latter’s loss at Wembley Stadium understandably pleased the Gunners fans.
However, some supporters took their joy a bit too far and sent rather unsavoury messages to Hazard on Twitter.
The Englishman, who is quite active on Twitter, did not like the way he was being treated by the Arsenal supporters on social media and posted the following message on Sunday night.
Can someone please inform Arsenal Fans that we have played in a CL Quarter Final more recently than them— Micky Hazard (@1MickyHazard) March 1, 2015
Arsenal Fans can't win an argument so they resort to personal abuse, gives me a great excuse to block them, please keep doing it— Micky Hazard (@1MickyHazard) March 1, 2015
However, on Monday morning, Hazard urged the Tottenham fans not to judge all of the Arsenal supporters in a bad light.
Spurs Fans were Awesome yesterday, couldn't believe the support after the game on way home, singing non stop MAGIC SO PROUD #everywherewego— Micky Hazard (@1MickyHazard) March 2, 2015
Guys please don't judge Arsenal Fans all the same cos of a few morons, they have some very nice fans too and some have tweeted their disgust— Micky Hazard (@1MickyHazard) March 2, 2015
As with every club, not all fans are vile and want to pick up fights, but unfortunately, there are always some who take football rivalries a bit too far.
Tottenham are currently seventh in the Premier League table with 44 points from 26 matches, while Arsenal are third with 51 points from 27 games.
