Arsenal defender Gabriel made his first league start since moving to the Emirates Stadium this weekend.
In comments published by Arsenal’s official Twitter account, the Gunners boss highlighted the defender’s key attributes, with the recent signing from Spanish side Villarreal now having made three appearances for his new side.
“He had an encouraging performance overall,” Wenger said. “He is highly focused, has good concentration levels and is quick.”
Those strengths saw him picked ahead of Per Mertesacker for the match against the Toffees and it will be interesting to see who Wenger plays in the weeks ahead.
Arsenal have a vital Champions League match against Monaco on the horizon, where they will be looking to overcome a 3-1 deficit from the first leg, while they also have a FA Cup quarter-final away to Manchester United later in the month.
Gabriel certainly has the talent to play in such matches, but it may be a while longer before he is a regular first-choice for the North London club.
