Tottenham round-up: Early team news; Spurs stars told to be ‘heroes forever’

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur take on Chelsea in the final of the League Cup this afternoon, and at this stage the result is impossible to call.

While current Premier League leaders Chelsea head into the game as favourites, there is no telling what could happen at Wembley, especially when you consider Tottenham won the last match between the two sides 5-3.

In early team news, the BBC reports that Tottenham have no new injury concerns ahead of the game, with the trio of Kyle Walker, Harry Kane and Andros Townsend tipped to return after sitting out the Europa League match against Fiorentina on Thursday.

Ramires is tipped to start for Chelsea with Nemanja Matic suspended and John Obi Mikel out with injury.

In other news, former Tottenham player Micky Hazard has taken to Twitter ahead of the final to send a special message to his old side.

“Boys, put yourselves in the record books today,” Hazard wrote, “become heroes forever more, enjoy the day, don’t let it pass you by but be heroes.”

It is a wonderful message and one Tottenham’s players would be wise to acknowledge ahead of the huge match.
