Tottenham players react on Twitter to Chelsea defeat; featuring Kane and Mason

Tottenham Hotspur players took to Twitter after their 2-0 Capital One Cup final defeat to Chelsea.

Tottenham were left heartbroken at Wembley after Chelsea defeated them 2-0 in the Capital One Cup final this afternoon.

Spurs were underdogs against the Premier League leaders, but couldn't replicate their 5-3 win over the Blues from January.

Chelsea skipper John Terry gave Jose Mourinho's men the lead from close range, with his shot being deflected past Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

Spurs battled throughout but couldn't break Chelsea down, and the game was essentially put to bed when Diego Costa's shot found it's way past Lloris at the near post with the aid of a Kyle Walker deflection.

It was Chelsea's first piece of silverware since Mourinho returned to the club in the summer of 2013, leaving Spurs devastated at the final whistle.

Players took to Twitter after the game to reflect on the defeat, with starters Ryan Mason, Andros Townsend and Harry Kane all sending messages to fans.

Young midfielder Grant Ward, who is currently on loan at US side Chicago Fire, also tweeted after the defeat, with all four players gutted to have seen their side lose.
