The former Liverpool forward was full of praise for Brazilian Coutinho and his Welsh teammate.
The Brazilian put in a star performance for Aldridge’s old side against Manchester City in Sunday’s early kick-off, scoring a wonderful curling shot to seal a 2-1 win for Liverpool.
That success moved Liverpool one step closer to the Champions League places, a push that has in some way been driven by Coutinho’s stellar performances over the last couple of months.
The midfielder has impressed consistently for Brendan Rodgers’ side after signing a new long-term contract at the club, with his wonder goal against City adding to the one against Bolton, which saw his side progress in the FA Cup. Now, Aldridge has praised the forward, saying he will be a top player in years to come, but singled out midfielder Joe Allen as the pick of the Liverpool bunch.
“Thought Coutinho was excellent today and he's going to be very special in years to come,” Aldridge wrote on Kicca.
“Joe Allen was my MoM, best game he's had in a Liverpool shirt by a mile,” he added.
The comments about Coutinho echo those of his Brazil compatriot Neymar, with the Barcelona star recently saying his former youth team teammate could become the best player in the Premier League, according to the Mirror.
“He can be the star player in England,” Neymar said.
“This season I think everybody in England is seeing how talented he is - and I know he has a lot more to show. When he has the ball at his feet, he can make things happen for himself and he can make things happen for other players. He is a very special player.”
