Former Leicester City and Derby County midfielder Robbie Savage has predicted in The Mirror that Liverpool will finish in the top four of the Premier League this season.
Liverpool were struggling earlier in the season, but they are in a great run of form at the moment and are back among the contenders for a top-four finish this campaign.
Brendan Rodgers’s side are currently sixth in the Premier League table with 45 points from 26 matches, five points behind third-placed Manchester United but with a game in hand.
The Merseyside outfit have won five of their last six league games and are unbeaten in their last 10 league matches.
Savage is impressed with Liverpool’s recent run of form, and believes that the Reds will end up in a Champions League position.
“Rodgers promised fans that Liverpool would work up a head of steam in the second half of the season and it looks like he was right – I now think they will finish in the top four,” the 40-year-old wrote in The Mirror.
Could Robbie Savage’s prediction come true?
Liverpool have improved markedly in recent weeks, and are genuine contenders for a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.
However, the Reds have a very tough job as a number of other teams are fighting for the third and fourth spots in the table.
United, Arsenal, Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur all have aspirations of playing Champions League football next season, and it is too close to call which two teams among them will achieve those ambitions.
Arsenal will probably claim one of the two spots up for grabs - the Gunners always seem to end up in the top four, and one suspects that this season will be no different.
