Southampton are currently struggling for form, having gone three games without a win, including Saturday's 1-0 loss to West Bromwich Albion.
The Saints are falling having been in the top four for almost the entire season, and manager Ronald Koeman now has a real challenge on his hands as he looks to turn the club's form around.
Yet after such as successful debut season in English football, rumours are starting to swirl over Koeman's future on the South Coast.
The Dutchman has recovered from a number of player sales last summer and turned Southampton into a team challenging for European football.
Those exploits are unsurprisingly attracting interest, and whist he's considered to be one of the favourites for the Barcelona job - a club he featured for as a player - the Daily Mirror believe that Newcastle want to make a shock move to take him to St. James' Park.
John Carver is manager of the Magpies until the summer, having taken over from Alan Pardew, and Newcastle are expected to make a big appointment at the end of the season.
Koeman would be a surprise appointment, and fans of both Newcastle and Southampton have been reacting to the rumours on Twitter - with most suggesting that the story is nonsense and that Koeman would be wrong to leave Southampton for Newcastle.
Some Newcastle fans admitted that they'd like Koeman to make the move to St. James' Park, whilst Southampton supporters were simply laughing at the speculation, wondering whether it was April Fools' Day!
Here are reactions from Newcastle and Southampton fans after Koeman was linked with a move to the North East...
Why would Koeman come to #NUFC if he has no say in transfers, yet full control of Saints? And doing very well for it?— robertsdanny (@robertsdanny) March 1, 2015
Can't believe the Koeman rumours. Don't know where they've come from but I'd pay 10 million never mind 2. Quality manager #nufc— Ross Lindsay (@RossLindsay20) March 1, 2015
can't see Koeman leaving Southampton for us like. #nufc— Richard! (@RichardjNUFC) February 28, 2015
Don't believe a word of that story, but Koeman would be mad to leave Southampton for #NUFC. Much, much better setup for any manager— AboutTheToon (@aboutthetoon) March 1, 2015
Koeman to Newcastle, lol. It's the first of March, not the first of April. #SaintsFC— Richard Emery (@UrbanWordsmith) March 1, 2015
