Michael Owen has predicted in his Betvictor.com column that Manchester City will fail to win today’s Premier League clash against Liverpool at Anfield.
The former Liverpool striker actually expects the defending English champions to drop all three points in Merseyside.
“City had their European limitations, seemingly, exposed by Barcelona midweek although the game once again showcased the excellence of Sergio Aguero,” Owen wrote on Betvictor.com.
“City are without a win in 11 at Anfield and I think that trend will continue on Sunday.”
Owen also made the following post on social networking site Twitter, showing that he is backing Liverpool to win today.
Could Michael Owen’s prediction come true?
On paper, City should be considered favourites. The Citizens have the better team and have better individual players than Liverpool.
However, Liverpool are in superb form at the moment, and their momentum makes them very dangerous opposition.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have won five of their last six Premier League matches, and are unbeaten in their last 10 league games.
The Merseyside outfit have also claimed two more points (17) than any other Premier League club in 2015.
City, too, have returned to form and have won their last two league matches, scoring nine goals in the process.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side have the best away record in the Premier League this season, and have also scored more away goals (30) than any other top-flight side.
City’s record at Anfield is poor, but the Manchester outfit will not be short on confidence for today’s game.
One suspects that the first goal will be key. If City get it, then they may well pick up the three points.
