Michael Owen has predicted in his Betvictor.com column that Arsenal will win against Everton in the Premier League today.
The Gunners will head into the clash at the Emirates Stadium on the back of a 3-1 defeat to AS Monaco in the first leg of the Champions League last-16 tie.
Arsenal’s performance at the Emirates in North London on Wednesday was one of their worst of the season, but former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Owen backs them to bounce back against Everton.
“The Gunners remain the archetypal flat-track bullies and I was very disappointed with their performance against a limited Monaco side in the Champions League on Wednesday,” the 35-year-old wrote on Betvictor.com.
“I shall be at the Emirates for BT Sport and expect to see an Arsenal win against an Everton side who have failed to hit last season’s PL heights although I don’t expect to see too many goals.”
Could Michael Owen’s prediction come true?
Arsenal will indeed be favourites to pick up all three points today, despite their setback in the Champions League in midweek.
The Gunners have better players than Everton, and playing at home will also give them an advantage.
Although Arsene Wenger’s side should be confident, they should not get complacent and must be focused.
Everton are having a bad season in the Premier League, but Thursday’s 3-1 victory over BSC Young Boys at home in the Europa League will have certainly increased the players’ confidence.
Having progressed to the last 16 of the Europa League, Roberto Martinez’s side will be looking to build on it with victory over Arsenal.
Perhaps winning at the Emirates is beyond Everton, but they can certainly pick up a point in North London.
