Leeds United have lost their last two Championship games against Brighton & Hove Albion and Watford in the Championship.
Cooper and Bamba have played together in central defence in Leeds’s last two Championship games, and both of them have ended in defeats.
While the West Yorkshire outfit lost 2-0 to Brighton & Hove Albion away from home last week, on Saturday they went down 3-2 to Watford at Elland Road.
Leeds had gone three Championship games without conceding a single goal prior to last week’s loss against Brighton, but Cooper insists that things will improve.
“Sol is a great guy, he is a lovely guy,” the 23-year-old told BBC Radio Leeds on Saturday. “He is an experienced guy as well. It’s been really good playing alongside him, and hopefully we can put that to an off-day today.”
As the Opta Stats table below shows, Bamba and Cooper have not individually committed any errors that have directly led to a goal in the last two matches, but collectively they have struggled to keep out the opposition attackers.
|Match||Error Lead To Goal||Error Lead To Shot||Goals Conceded||Total Tackles||Tackles Won||Total Shots|
|Liam Cooper||Leeds vs Watford||0||0||3||3||3||0|
|Liam Cooper||Brighton vs Leeds||0||0||2||4||4||1|
|Sol Bamba||Leeds vs Watford||0||0||3||8||6||1|
|Sol Bamba||Brighton vs Leeds||0||1||2||1||0||2|
The last two games were Bamba’s worst for Leeds since he joined the Whites from Palermo on loan in the January transfer window, while club captain Cooper has not exactly been great this season.
It will be interesting to see if Leeds manager Neil Redfearn decides to drop either of the players for the Championship game against Ipswich Town at Elland Road on Wednesday.
Ipswich are gunning for promotion to the Premier League, and the Whites need to be at their very best in order to to pick up a point against them.
Giuseppe Bellusci is the player who could come in against Ipswich, but the question is who he should replace.
