And QPR midfielder Barton, a former Newcastle man, was keen to send a message to the 31-year-old, even though he didn’t actually come on during the 1-0 win against Aston Villa.

The rest of Newcastle’s stars also joined the QPR skipper in paying tribute to Gutierrez’s phenomenal achievement, while many took to Twitter to reflect on a hard-earned three points against Tim Sherwood’s Villa side.
