Ex-Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur defender Jason Cundy gives two reasons for his League Cup final prediction

Jason Cundy looks ahead to today's League Cup final between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur at London’s Wembley Stadium.

Jason Cundy has backed Chelsea to win the League Cup final against Tottenham Hotspur on Kicca.com.

The 45-year-old former defender believes that Jose Mourinho’s side have better players than Spurs and should win the clash at London’s Wembley Stadium today.

“Over the years Chelsea have done well against Spurs and if both sides played at their maximum you’d have to back the Blues to win simply because they have the better players (and because Jose will not want to be beaten twice by Pochettino!),” Cundy wrote on Kicca.com.

Cundy, who played for both Chelsea and Tottenham, added that Nemanja Matic’s suspension will be a “big loss” for the Blues, but he expects Mourinho’s team to “nick it by the odd strike.”

Sensible reasons?

Chelsea do indeed have better players than Tottenham, and on paper they should win the game.

Although Matic’s suspension is undesirable, the Blues do have a squad who can cope without him - or should at least be able to.

One suspects that Mourinho will come up with a plan to compensate for the absence of the defensive midfielder.

The Portuguese will also have learnt his lesson from Chelsea’s 5-3 defeat to Spurs on New Year’s Day, and one can be certain that he will make sure that his team do not concede five goals again.

However, Tottenham’s chances of winning the League Cup final cannot be underestimated.

With Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane in good form, the North London outfit will certainly head into today’s game high on confidence.

The final could well be decided by a single goal.
