Alan Shearer: Eden Hazard could be key for Chelsea in League Cup final

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer looks ahead to today’s League Cup final between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur at London’s Wembley Stadium.

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has told The Sun that Eden Hazard will play a key role for Chelsea against Tottenham Hotspur in today’s League Cup final at London’s Wembley Stadium.

The Belgium international winger has been in truly sensational form this season, and the former England international striker backs him to lead the Blues to victory today.

“He’s had a top, top season,” Shearer told The Sun about Hazard. “He gets kicked from pillar to post and doesn’t get a lot of protection at times, but I’m sure he’ll have a big say.

“He draws the fouls and is always looking to get that little half a yard away from defenders. That’s why I think Chelsea will win... just.”

Importance of Eden Hazard

Hazard is one of the best players in the Premier League and will be massive for Chelsea against Tottenham today.

The 24-year-old has scored nine goals and created 71 chances in 26 Premier League appearances so far this season, while having a pass accuracy of 88% and winning 63% of the duels.

In the Champions League, Hazard has scored two goals and created 13 chances in five matches, while having a pass accuracy of 81% and a shot accuracy of 85%.

The Tottenham defenders have to be especially wary of him, but it will be far from easy for them to second-guess Hazard’s runs and movements.

If Hazard gets into the game right from the start, then Tottenham will have a very tough time.
