Newcastle United came out on top against Aston Villa on Saturday, with Papiss Cisse proving to be the goal-scoring hero for the Magpies.
Cisse's latest strike was his 11th of the campaign, and it came eight minutes before the interval, the Senegal forward scoring from Daryl Janmaat's cross.
It could have been even better for Newcastle but fellow forward Ayoze Perez could only hit the woodwork with a header; however the hosts held on for a much-needed victory.
As for Villa, they managed only three shots on target in the entire match despite matching Newcastle when it came to possession of the ball.
The result means Villa remain in the Premier League relegation zone having won just 22 points from 27 matches.
Tim Sherwood's side are only in the drop-zone on goal-difference but they will have to do much better in the weeks ahead. Newcastle, on the other hand, are 11th, four points outside the top 10.
