Matt Le Tissier tells Southampton fans to be happy, even if they don't finish in top four

The Southampton legend is pleased with his team's campaign regardless of where they end up.

Southampton were decimated in the summer. After an excellent season in 2013-14 they lost manager Mauricio Pochettino as well as important players Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Dejan Lovren and Calum Chambers.

After that occurred they were tipped for relegation by some pundits.

However, the team soon bought in some fantastic replacements. Dusan Tadic, Toby Alderweireld, Ryan Bertrand and Graziano Pelle - as well as new manager Ronald Koeman.

The results have been fantastic.

Southampton have been in the battle for the Champions League places all season. However, they recently dropped to fifth in the league and have Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur breathing down their necks in sixth and seventh respectively.

But for one Southampton legend, fans of the club should be proud regardless of where they finish in the Premier League this season.

Matt Le Tissier played over 500 games and scored over 200 goals for the club in a 16-year career at Southampton.

He Tweeted yesterday evening to tell fans to keep their chin up if, come the end of the season, they finish outside of the top four:

But Southampton fans will still be holding on to hope of Champions League football next season, as they are still right in the mix.
