Hammers round-up: Early team news and Kouyate on what he’s been told

A select round-up of the latest news relating to West Ham United

West Ham United take on Crystal Palace at Upton Park in this weekend’s early Premier League kick-off.

The Hammers are currently eighth in the table, five points behind Tottenham Hotspur after the two sides drew 2-2 last weekend.

West Ham will feel aggrieved not to have taken all three points on that occasion but they now have a good chance of getting back to winning ways against Alan Pardew’s Eagles.

In early team news, the BBC reports that recent signing Nene will make his debut for the Hammers while Carlton Cole is unavailable with a hamstring injury.

Morgan Amalfitano is suspended for this encounter and Andy Carroll is a long-term absentee.

In other news, Cheikhou Kouyate has been speaking to West Ham’s official website about the match against Palace.

The defensive midfielder has been nothing short of sensational since he arrived at Upton Park, and he explained that he is looking forward to the clash between two London sides.

“I like playing in derbies, they are very special games, especially for the fans,” Kouyate said.

He then went on to explain what people have been saying to him following his wonderful header against Tottenham.

“Everyone is telling me that I will score again this weekend because I have scored against some of the big teams,” he said.
