The Tottenham Hotspur defender disappointed yet again in Italy.
A long list of names let Tottenham down on Thursday night.
Some divided opinion, others were universally panned.
Roberto Soldado missed a glaring opportunity that could have changed the north London side's whole Europa League campaign; Federico Fazio gave a goal away all by himself; Jan Vertonghen, meanwhile, was at fault for Fiorentina's second.
But one man, more than all of the above, is yet to receive a word of praise for his contribution in Italy: Vlad Chiriches.
The 25-year-old Romanian struggled at right-back and after being shifted to the middle towards the end of the game - for what seems like the umpteenth time during his White Hart Lane career.
Recently, HITC Sport speculated as to whether Chiriches should be shipped out of north London this summer. And, after another underwhelming display at Fiorentina, the evidence is piling up that Chiriches will never be the Tottenham player he was bought to be.
With DeAndre Yedlin a long-term option at Spurs, there will be less and less room for the 25-year-old beyond the current campaign and, if a bidder comes along, Tottenham will surely jump at the opportunity to sell.
In fact, Chiriches may have played his last game for the club at Fiorentina. After the Capital One Cup final, with just one competition left to concentrate on for Spurs, there will be less and less need for rotation. And, should the Romanian never play for Mauricio Pochettino's side again, would any Tottenham fans really care?
