Manchester United's Spanish midfielder has been speaking about the improvement their Colombian front-man has recently been showing in training.
The two players both arrived at United last summer, with Herrera signing in a permanent deal from Athletic Bilbao and Falcao coming in on loan from AS Monaco, but while the Spaniard has impressed when given chances, the Colombian is yet to rediscover his best form.
Herrera has given an insight into Falcao’s training methods at United and his character, and both are good news for those supporters still hoping the on-loan forward becomes a goal-scoring great in Manchester.
“Falcao is similar to Wayne (Rooney) in his character,” Herrera said. “He’s very, very humble.
“Last season, before the injury, he was maybe the best striker in the world. Now he’s getting better. He never misses one training session – the same as Wazza.
“We are going to enjoy him, I am sure. I’m very pleased to play with him.”
It remains to be seen how much longer the two players will be turning out for the same side, with Falcao’s loan move expiring in the summer and his form to date suggesting a permanent deal may be unlikely at this stage.
At his best there is no doubting Falcao’s talent, but United are yet to see that and he has just 11 league matches and the club’s remaining FA Cup campaign to prove to manager Louis van Gaal that he should stay at the club for the long term.
