Newcastle United attacking midfielder Remy Cabella has ruled himself out of contention to feature against Aston Villa on Saturday.
The 24-year-old France international is struggling with a knee injury he picked up in training earlier this month.
Cabella missed the Premier League clash against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last weekend, and it seems that he will sit out the encounter against Villa at St. James’ Park as well.
When asked by a Newcastle fan on social networking site Twitter if he will be available for Saturday’s game, the former Montpellier star replied with a simple ‘No’.
Cabella, who joined Newcastle from Montpellier in the summer of 2014, has stepped up his game under manager John Carver in recent weeks.
In 23 Premier League appearances so far this season, the Frenchman has scored one goal and created 33 chances, while having a pass accuracy of 86% and a shot accuracy of 42%.
Cabella’s potential absence against Villa will be a big blow for Newcastle, who will be determined to bounce back from the 5-0 hammering by City at the Etihad Stadium.
