Everton were the only British side to make it into the next round of the competition after a 3-1 win and 7-2 aggregate victory against Swiss side Young Boys.
The two games produced two of Everton’s best performances this season and McCarthy has suggested where the club can take advantage in the next round.
“A lot of European teams won’t like coming here with the way the fans are, the atmosphere and the way the night games are especially, it is brilliant,” said McCarthy.
Everton have one of the most passionate sets of fans in the country and they will be important over the rest of the club’s European campaign.
An intense home atmosphere has the ability to put some very experienced European sides on edge and as cliché as it sounds, Everton’s home fans can really be their 12th man.
The club’s chances of whipping up a hostile environment are going to be aided if the team can go on a decent run of form.
That means improved performances both home and away in the Premier League, starting this weekend with the trip to Arsenal.
Momentum builds confidence for both the players and the fans and Everton can use that to their advantage.
