Celtic's brave effort went unrewarded as they were knocked out of the Europa League by Inter Milan.
It was always going to be a tough night for Ronny Deila's Celtic side in the San Siro. They battled well in the first leg to give themselves a shot of making it to the last 16 of the Europa League, with a 3-3 draw played out at Parkhead.
They fought bravely again on Thursday and were never really out of the game. A red card for Virgil van Dijk didn't do much to aid the Scottish Champions' cause, but they were staying in the game long enough to give Roberto Mancini's side cause for concern.
Their resistance eventually came to an end with an 88th minute strike from Fredy Guarin which would have been good enough to win any game football, given the quality of the goal. There will be some encouragement inside the Celtic camp that they at least didn't look out of place in the knockout stages of the Europa League, after the disappointment of missing out on the Champions League group stages earlier on in the season.
