Norwich will be aiming to leapfrog local rivals Ipswich on Sunday in the most significant East Anglian derby in some years.

The Canaries have enjoyed a footballing renaissance under new manager Alex Neil and are aiming for their sixth straight win against an Ipswich side that currently sit two places above them in third.

The Tractor Boys have struggled to beat their local rivals in recent times, losing three in-a-row, including 5-1 and 4-1 defeats in the 2010/11 season.

Norwich are one of only three teams to beat Ipswich at Portman Road this season – winning 1-0 – but this game is at Carrow Road, where the visitors haven’t seen victory since February 2006 on a day where goals from Jimmy Juan and Danny Haynes cancelled out Jonatan Johansson's 23rd minute strike.
It is likely that the hero for one of these teams will come from the strikers, in particular Cameron Jerome and Daryl Murphy. The former has scored three in his last five games while the latter has an identical record, although he hasn't scored in his last two outings since breaking his nose.
With the attacking threat that Ipswich pose, Neil may decide to bring Alexander Tettey back into the holding midfield role at the expense of Graham Dorrans. With a potential change of shape from their last outing back to the 4-1-2-1-2 system, Cameron Jerome could return to the starting line up to replace Nathan Redmond.
Gary Hooper, who missed the midweek win at Ewood Park through illness, returns to the squad and could potentially take one of the two striking roles in place of Jerome or Lewis Grabban.
Mick McCarthy has some midfield selection issues with Stephen Hunt, Darren Ambrose and Luke Hyam all missing through injury, and 18-year-old Teddy Bishop is now doubtful to make the game due to an ankle injury that he picked up in training.
There could be a debut for Chris Wood, who has signed for Ipswich on-loan from Leicester to bolster the Tractor Boys attack, with David McGoldrick and Noel Hunt completing the Blues injury list.

“We didn’t want to go into the game against Norwich with anything else but a win. It makes you feel a bit better about yourself and gives you confidence. They certainly will be because I think they’ve had five wins on the bounce now. They’re flying – and so they should be.”
Mick McCarthy
