Arsenal-owned Joel Campbell delighted with Villarreal’s Europa League progress

Arsenal-owned youngster Joel Campbell helped Villarreal reach the last 16 of the Europa League on Thursday.

Arsenal-owned forward Joel Campbell has taken to social networking site Twitter to revel in his loan club Villarreal’s progress in the Europa League.

Spanish outfit Villarreal booked their place in the last 16 of the competition with a comprehensive 5-2 aggregative victory over FC Red Bull Salzburg in the round of 32.

The Yellow Submarine won the first leg of the tie 2-1 at home last week, and eased past Adolf Hutter’s side 3-1 in the second leg in Austria on Thursday.

Campbell, who featured in both the games as a second-half substitute, was delighted with Villarreal’s progress in the Europa League.

The 22-year-old Costa Rica international wrote on Twitter: “A night to remember. Great team work.”

Campbell replaced Jonathan Dos Santos in the 67th minute of the first leg and came on for Tomas Pina in the 86th minute of the second leg.

The youngster joined Villarreal from Arsenal in the January transfer window on loan for the rest of the season after finding it tough to play regularly for the Premier League giants.

Campbell has yet to score in three La Liga appearances for Villarreal, although he has created six chances and has a pass accuracy of 73%.
