Reported Newcastle United managerial target Remi Garde has received praise from an unlikely source today, with Anthony Reveillere backing him to be a success in the Premier League in the Sunderland Echo.
The pair worked together earlier in their careers, when they were at Lyon, and the Sunderland full-back believes Garde's talents are transferable to the English game.
“I had two or three years working under him at Lyon and he’s got a good mind for things,” said Reveillere.
“He knows England after playing at Arsenal, and he can speak English which is important. He’s not a stranger to the Premier League. He knows the English mentality.
“It would be a good opportunity for him, although we’d have to make sure we keep winning against them!”
If Newcastle do appoint Garde it would be a welcome addition for the Mapgies faithful as they are simply desperate for a change.
At the moment John Carver is in charge of the team and he does not have the support of many of the club's fans.
Newcastle's form under Carver has been poor - with the 50-year-old winning just one of his first nine games since taking over from Alan Pardew - and there is growing discontent around the club.
The North East outfit are clear of relegation at the moment, but there are fears that they could be sucked into a survival fight if results do not start to pick up soon.
