Stefan Johansen wants more goals and assists for Celtic

Celtic Champions League

The Celtic midfielder wants to improve on his existing record.

Celtic midfielder Stefan Johansen admits he wants to score more goals and claim more assists for the Scottish champions, according to the club's official website.

Johansen, who arrived at Celtic in a £2 million move, is the Bhoys' joint-top scorer in all competitions this term with eight goals. The Norwegian is also Celtic's top scorer outright in the Europa League, having netted three times in Europe this season.

As an attacking midfielder, however, the 24-year-old wants to register both more goals and assists for Ronny Deila's side.

“It’s important to have assists and goals in the position I’m playing now,” he told the Celtic View. “I’ve had a couple of goals and assists in Europe as well so I’m happy but it’s my job to do that.

“I want more and I want to win trophies with Celtic - that’s the main target - and if I can do that by helping score goals then I’m very happy."

Johansen, meanwhile, knows the perfect place to start if he wants to build on the impressive opening he has made to life at Celtic Park.

Indeed, tonight's Europa League clash against Inter Milan at the San Siro presents the Norwegian - and all of his team-mates - with the chance to write themselves into Celtic folklore.

And, while the 24-year-old knows Inter will provide the toughest of tests, especially with three away goals already to their name in the tie, Johansen insists Celtic have the belief they need to go through.

“We’ll go into tonight’s game at the San Siro and believe we have a good chance to go through but we know it’s going to be tough," he added.

After tonight's Inter clash (6pm GMT), Celtic host Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday afternoon.
