Spurs fans debate who Pochettino should buy and sell this summer

White Hart Lane 5

What have Tottenham Hotspur fans had to say about their hopes for the next transfer window?

Tottenham Hotspur are currently in the midst of what could be a fantastic season, with the League Cup final just around the corner and in possession of a side brimming with young talent.

But whatever the rest of this campaign brings, manager Mauricio Pochettino is likely to be busy in the summer transfer window.

In a recent article for HITC, we looked at the possibility of Tottenham signing a perfect foil for Harry Kane; the right strike partner rather than one of the headline names that so often does the rounds.

The 21-year-old is currently doing a wonderful job playing up front on his own for Tottenham, but it will be interesting to see how Pochettino approaches the new campaign and if he will revert to two up top, at least on occasions.

Whatever happens, the article got Tottenham fans talking about the summer business they would like to see their manager conduct, and below is a selection of reader comments about the subject:

Tottingham Boss said: ‘Spurs need to strengthen their flanks and get rid of a few players (Kaboul, Chiriches, Townsend etc). Give Pritchard a chance in the first team, sign Depay, Ings and a centre back. Get that business done within the first month of summer - allow Pochettino to get his team running at 100% for the start of the season and push on for a Champions League spot with a cohesive and stronger team.’

Philo said: ‘Big names mean nothing if they don't have the qualities and character traits that are required to play in Poch's team. It's slapping everyone in the face what we need. Move Townsend and Lamela off the books, get the right characters in (Depay, Konoplyanka, Pritchard?). Controversial but I would move Mason to the bench and add Schneiderlin in the centre. Moving the likes of Adebayor, Capoue, Paulinho I don't believe will make any detrimental change to the squad, as it's about delivering the characters into the jigsaw puzzle. This would save millions of the wage bill (dependant on new arrivals), saying all that believe or not I'm not in favour of too much change(go figure!). COYS’

Derek said: ‘I suggest Jay Rodriguez (Southampton). Yes I know he is recovering from a major injury -that may affect the transfer fee. We need a partner for Kane and a ball playing partner could ease the burden on Eriksen.’

King Glenn said: ‘Berahino and Depay would be nice. Can both either play from wide, behind or as back up to HK. Also provide fluidity and goals which Lamela and Townsend do not do. Bring back Pritchard from Brentford, ditch Ade along with Paulinho, Kaboom, Capoue and Chiriches and we have a younger and better balanced squad.’
