Pochettino blames Soldado miscue, comments on how Tottenham striker is feeling

Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking about Roberto Soldado's

Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino says that Roberto Soldado's miss was a pivotal moment in their defeat to Fiorentina.

Speaking to SkySports, the Argentine admitted the striker's decision to attempt to pass the ball to Nacer Chadli when through on goal was their big chance wasted.

Soldado failed to find the Belgian with the pass, and the opportunity went begging. Spurs would go onto lose the tie 2-0.

Pochettino said: "We are all disappointed, the player, too, it is normal. It is true that it was key, this action. You need some luck to score sometimes if you are to win the games."

He admitted their defending was also a big contributing factor in the loss, but focused on their lack of goals, stating: "It is true that the second half we made some mistakes and we take a risk and Fiorentina scored.

"We did not score and, if we want to analyse the game, it is easy: Fiorentina scored, we didn't score and in football you don't score it is difficult to win games."

Goals from Mario Gomez and Chelsea loanee Mohamed Salah gave the Italian side the win, despite Spurs enjoying 63 per cent of possession.

Soldado has scored only four goals in 24 appearances this season, a not too dissimilarly poor strike rate to his nine in 35 games a year ago.
