A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Liverpool Football Club this Thursday morning.
Liverpool's Raheem Sterling has dropped the biggest hint yet that he will sign a new long-term deal with the club before the end of the season.
Sterling's contract talks appear to have been protracted and running for some time, but ahead of the Reds' clash with Besiktas in the Europa League in Istanbul this evening, the 20-year-old has said he is just concentrating on his football while discussions continue between his representatives and the football club.
He's quoted in the Liverpool Echo, saying: "I speak to my representative every day and he has just told me to concentrate on playing football and him and the club will deal with it.
“I am concentrating on winning games for Liverpool and hopefully it will be done soon. I am happy playing football and I am trying to do my best for this football club."
Tonight's game in Istanbul is part of a very busy fixture schedule for the Reds, with a huge Premier League clash against Manchester City at Anfield following for the Reds where they will continue their pursuit for a place in the top four, and it's fair to say manager Brendan Rodgers isn't entirely happy about it.
He told reporters: "It’s not ideal, especially if you don’t get help, and we’re on (TV) when we are in the early kick-off on Sunday.
“There wasn’t a great deal we could do about it. We’re just trying to manage the situation to try and get the result we need to get us through.
“That extra period of 48 hours that City will have could be crucial, certainly physically. We don’t get back until 3am so we will have very little preparation time. It’ll just be about recovery."
Liverpool are without a number of high profile first team players for this evening. Philippe Coutinho was among those who didn't travel as Rodgers has taken the decision to rest the Brazilian while Jordan Henderson is nursing a minor ankle injury in the hope he can be fit for Sunday's clash against City.
