The Chronicle has reported that John Carver’s position at Newcastle United will be assessed before any decision is made about talking to a possible replacement.
Carver is doing a decent job in charge of the team after being told he will be in charge until the end of the season.
Carver could be offered the chance to manage Newcastle on a more long term basis based on how the side performs for the rest of the season, which would make rumours of any coaches from the outside coming in seem pointless.
Remi Garde, the former Lyon coach, is someone the paper mentions as a person of interest to the club, but if Carver can get the side to react well to the City defeat and move forward positively, he may get the nod at the end of the campaign.
Few coaches anywhere in the game will have a better idea of what Newcastle are all about, but he needs momentum to work in his favour.
