Tyrone Mings scored his first ever goal for Ipswich Town, on his 50th appearance for the club.

The full-back netted the opener in their match with Birmingham City at Portman Road.

Mings, 21, sparked wild celebrations among his teammates as he rose highest to head home midway through the first half to give his side the lead.

The defender had been linked with a mid-season move to both Arsenal and Newcastle United by The Mirror, with The Mail claiming Town wanted as much as £10 million for the defender.

Keeping him was important for their promotion hopes, with Mick McCarthy's side pushing for an automatic promotion place and a strong bet to finish in the play-offs.

His goal is a timely reminder of his talent, and if Ipswich do not manage to gain entry to the Premier League this season, holding onto Mings may be a tough task in the summer.
