Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Paulinho has told the London Evening Standard that it would be perfect if the club had another Brazilian in their squad.
The midfielder has struggled to adapt under Mauricio Pochettino this season and another Brazilian player coming in could benefit him in terms of bedding down for a long career at White Hart Lane.
“If we had a Brazilian in the group of players it would be perfect, but that's football. I’m doing fine here. I can’t complain,” said Paulinho.
So who exactly could Tottenham target? Here are three choices.
The Daily Mail has linked Tottenham with a move for Shakhtar star Bernard in the past. However, the problem with that link is that he’s a midfielder, which is an area where Spurs are hardly spoilt for choice at the moment.
Another option is Leandro Damiao, who the Daily Mail claims is also a former target of the club. He currently finds himself on loan at Cruzeiro from Santos, which suggests he’s surplus to requirements at the club he’s owned by.
Tottenham could play on apparent friction between Dani Alves and Barcelona to add a very experienced defender to their ranks. The Daily Mail has reported that the 31-year-old threw a tantrum when he was taken off against Manchester City last night, though Spurs already have good options in both full-back positions.
