Newcastle and West Ham-linked Morgan Sanson declares interest in Premier League move

The emerging Montpellier midfielder has admitted his desire to experience English football, despite further interest from Serie A.

Montpellier midfielder Morgan Sanson has declared his interested in a move to England in the future, calciomercato.com has reported.

Sanson, 20, joined Montpellier from Ligue 2 side Le Mans in June 2013, and has since made 63 total appearances for the club, while recording five goals and six assists in the process.

His promising performances have now attracted interest from Newcastle United and West Ham United, per TalkSport, while calciomercato.com added earlier this week that AC Milan are weighing up a summer move.

Both Lazio and Napoli are also said to be courting his signature but, when asked about the reports on his future, the France Under-21 international suggested that he would prefer a switch to the Premier League.

"From a young, England has always fascinated me,” he is reported to have said. “I want to go there, but we'll see in the future.

“Before then, another step in France? I do not know, it depends on my progress. If I can take a step forward I will.

“The longer I stay at Montpellier, the less I’m likely to move to a similar club.”

A box-to-box midfielder, who can also fill a more advanced role, Sanson’s current contract runs until 2018, while a €10 million transfer fee is said to be required to lure him from Montpellier.

Newcastle’s noted habit for poaching emerging stars from Ligue 1 would seem to make him the ideal target for the North East club, but it looks like the Magpies will have competition from top-flight rivals West Ham should the promising Frenchman get his wish of a move to England.
