This evening Arsenal welcome Monaco to the Emirates Stadium as their Champions League campaign kicks off again in fine style.
The two sides clash in a tantalising last-16 tie and while the Ligue 1 side have not set this competition alight this year, they qualified with ease and will not be easy opponents for the Gunners.
Arsenal qualified in second place in Group D, behind German side Borussia Dortmund on goal-difference, while Monaco topped Group C after conceding just one goal in six matches.
Ahead of the match Arsenal and Monaco’s Twitter accounts have been indulging in a bit of friendly banter, with the Gunners’ account asking the French side who they should fear ahead of the encounter.
Monaco’s account posted a message saying, “Why not Dimitar Berbatov? A player who is very appreciated by Arsenal fans, isn’t he?”
But quick to respond, Arsenal’s account reminded them that while the Bulgarian striker did score in a match at the Emirates back in 2007, the Gunners had the last laugh when Nicklas Bendtner scored a 76th-minute winner.
It remains to be seen who will be the hero this evening, but in the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud, Mesut Ozil and Danny Welbeck, Arsenal have plenty of options.
