Manchester United prospect comments on reported Juventus interest

Paul Pogba

Andreas Pereira seemingly has his heart set on a transfer to Juventus.

The 19-year-old winger has been afforded few chances at Old Trafford, and he has told Tuttosport that he is keen on moving to Juventus.

A Belgian and Brazilian youth international, Pereira can play anywhere in the attacking positions, and he is considered to have a very bright future ahead of him.

His lone appearance for the Red Devils senior team came in the 4-0 League Cup defeat to MK Dons at the beginning of this campaign, when he was substituted into the game at half-time to little effect. He is a regular in the United youth ranks - at both Under-19 and Under-21 level - but clearly he does not see his future in Manchester.

It was reported earlier this week that both Juventus and PSV Eindhoven were tracking the youngster ahead of a potential summer transfer, when Pereira will be out of contract. As per Calciomercato, Pereira has not been assured of a future with United, and is said to be assessing his options before agreeing to any new contract.

Juventus have submitted a formal offer to the future star, and it is a worry that United will suffer from the same situation that saw them lose Paul Pogba on a free in 2012. After making just seven first-team appearances for the Red Devils, the France international left Old Trafford and has since become one of the most in-demand midfielders in world football - all at the age of 21.

And, with what must be annoyance from United, Pogba has reportedly been telling Pereira to follow his career path and join him in Turin. Speaking to Tuttosport, Pereira claimed: “Paul tells me Turin is perfect for me. Everybody knows that Juve are a great club. I've spoken with Pogba plenty of times because we're friends. But right now, I'm contracted to Manchester United.

“My agent is assessing the offers which have arrived, including from Juventus, but this is no secret. I've not made up my mind yet, I'm just considering my offers.”

United would do well to hold on to Pereira, who has shown at youth level that he possesses a wealth of talent. However, with first-team chances hard to come by, the attacker could desire to leave Old Trafford, and there is no denying that the lure of Juventus may be too grand to resist.
