Leeds United's defensive linchpin was below his best on Tuesday evening.
Ever since Sol Bamba arrived at Leeds United on loan from Italian side Palermo, he has been nothing short of sensational for Neil Redfearn’s side.
The 30-year-old centre-back has played every single minute of Leeds’ last six Championship matches, but against Brighton & Hove Albion he looked below par and ultimately could not prevent his side from losing 2-0.
But is there a very simple reason for the Ivorian’s slight dip in form? Has the very fact that he has burst onto the scene at Elland Road so quickly played a role in his slip?
After all, when he first signed for Leeds he told their official website that he was lacking match fitness, having featured just once for Palermo all season.
Thrust immediately into the action against Huddersfield and not having a breather since could have affected the centre-back, especially when you consider he put his all into keeping a clean-sheet against Middlesbrough, who will still be wondering how they did not break Leeds down last weekend.
There is no doubt Bamba is an outstanding centre-back, but having barely featured before he arrived at Leeds he is now playing week in, week out, and when Giuseppe Bellusci returns from suspension, it would be no surprise if his defensive colleague was given a chance to put his feet up.
